Student from Media College Was Elected as the Top Ten in the Academic Student Group of the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards

Li Dandan, a student from the media college of our university was elected as the top ten in the academic student group of the 2014 World Photography Awards. She was also the only Chinese who entered the final.

As one of the most influential photography award and activity, Sony World Photography Awards involves almost every subject and school. Academic student group is one of the largest international programs held for students who major in photography. It involves 230 educational institutional and aims at supporting and encouraging potential photographer of the next generation. 

Li Dandan’s work is named Liu Yuanhuang. It was photographed in Shangxi, near the Yellow River. The protagonist with blue eyes is a local people who is born and lives poor. Li hopes to appeal to more people to get to know and help those who are poor. 

She said: “I felt like dreaming when I heard the news that I was asked to go to London to participate in the final competition. I was so lucky to win an award because it was the first time I participate in a competition. Special thanks shall be extended to my dear teacher in Najing University of the Arts.” 

Li will be awarded a full-frame picture camera to take a series of self-portrait pictures to participate in the second-round competition. Meanwhile, she will go to London with his instructor to attend the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards Ceremony. 

Anton Hazewinkel, teacher of Li Dandan, said: “I am so proud of my student, and she would be a great artist with independent thoughts in the future.” 

Director of Photography Department, Zhong Jianming said: “From Nanjing University of the Arts, student can learn multiple of discipline. The photography Department aims to cultivate students with creativity and international insight. Li Dandan’s success is a great encouragement to our department and our college.” 

We hope Li Dandan to provide better works in the final competition and achieve better results.
