Li Tong

Li Tong, the Vice President of Nanjing University of the Arts, was admitted by Southwest Normal University In 1991 and got his master’s degree in fine arts and calligraphy in 1994. After graduation, he worked in the School of Communication and Art of Ningbo University. In 2002, he was admitted by Nanjing University of the Arts and studied under the supervision of Professor Huang Dun, a famous professor in calligraphy, and pursued a doctoral degree in Calligraphy. He graduated in 2005 with a doctoral degree and began to taught at NUA as a faculty member. He has successively served as assistant to the Dean of the School of Fine Arts of NUA, associate dean of the School of Fine Arts, Secretary of the Party branch and Executive Vice President of the School of Fine Arts, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and head of the Organization Department of NUA.

Now Professor Li is a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of NUA. He is a professor of calligraphy and a doctoral supervisor.

His main social positions include: member of the China Calligraphers Association; member of the Xiling Seal Engraver's Society; director of the Jiangsu Calligraphers Association; director of the Jiangsu Literary and Art Critics Association; member of the Steering Committee for Teaching Art Subjects in Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu Province; vice chairman of the Nanjing Literary and Art Critics Association.

Vice President Li’s works have been exhibited in many national, provincial, and municipal exhibitions and the calligraphy and seal cutting exhibitions held by Xiling Seal Engraver's Society. His teaching and research achievements have gained the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, the third prize of the National Calligraphy Academic Symposium twice, and the first prize of the Jiangsu Province Teaching Achievement Award. His teaching and scientific research achievements are the key teaching materials for colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province. His doctoral dissertation was awarded the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation of Jiangsu Province.
