Concert Celebrates 45th Anniversary of China-Thailand Diplomatic Relations and 108th Anniversary of the Founding of NUA

The Concert Hall of NUA successfully held a symphony concert in commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand and the 108th anniversary of the founding of NUA on the evening of December 8, 2020.

Over six hundred people came to enjoy this audio-visual art performance that featured a mix of the characteristics of Chinese and Thai music cultures. More than 15,000 online viewers from all walks of life at home and abroad watched the webcast, including faculty members and students of the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in Thailand.

Tthe Ministry of Culture of Thailand, the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in Thailand and the NUA jointly organized the concert, with full support of the Thai Embassy in China, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, and Nanjing Niushoushan Cultural Tourism Group Co., Ltd. Associate Professor Naraporn, wife of Prime Minister Prayuth, Arthayudh Srisamoot, Ambassador of Thailand to China, and Yang Xin, Charge d'Affaires ad interimof the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, recorded individual videos to extend warm congratulations for the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and for  holding this concert. Fei Shaoyun, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Li Jinquan, Second-Level Counsel of Jiangsu Education Department, and Liu Weidong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of NUA, visited the venue to express best wishes for strengthening cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Thailand and for the booming development of the century-old NUA. Rapipongs Banchong-Silpa, Acting Consul General of the Consulate General of Thailand in Shanghai, also attended the event.

The concert presented seven compositions written by Chinese and Thai composers, conducted by Xu Zhilian and Ju Yun of the School of Music of NUA, and performed by the NUA Symphony Orchestra, combining dance, multimedia, visual arts and other forms and giving Chinese and Thai audiences beautiful artistic enjoyment by mixing the characteristics of Chinese and Thai music and cultures.

The orchestra made the plethora of mighty and melodious sounds the impressive works require, , built a strong emotional resonance with the audience, and ended with an enthusiastic ovation from them. The symphony concert went hybrid-live streamed for the very first time as a new attempt of the NUA to carry out cultural and artistic exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries amid the coronavirus pandemic. Based on this cooperative event, NUA will further expand the exchange and cooperation programs with Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music and other higher art institutions in Thailand, and make new contributions to the cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Thailand.
