The opening ceremony of the ASEAN-Jiangsu Exchanges Week, hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and the China-ASEAN Center, began on December 16. Participants in Nanjing, Beijing, Shanghai and ASEAN countries attended the event via both offline and online channels. Li Xiangmin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of NUA, was present. NUA has established mutually beneficial cooperation with ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Especially, its close ties with Thai art institutes and fruitful exchanges with Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in particular have highlighted art cooperation and exchanges between Jiangsu Province and ASEAN countries and been fully recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jiangsu Education Department and the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. In this ASEAN-Jiangsu Exchanges Week commemorating the 30th anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations, faculty members and students from NUA's School of Music and School of Dance participated in the opening gala under the theme of "Ride the Wind and Waves, Build the Future Together". Their performance, featuring the folk songs and dances of Jiangsu and ten ASEAN countries, has showed the significance of cultural exchanges and received unanimous praise. The International Exchange Office of NUA was responsible for overall coordination of this performance, and faculty members such as Jiang Xiaomeng and Guo Luole served as art directors. The students rehearsed carefully in spite of language obstacles and successfully completed the performance task by the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. The event also witnessed the inauguration of the Jiangsu-ASEAN Cultural and Art Talent Training and Exchange Base. Jointly established by NUA and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, the base will deepen the cultural understanding and exchanges between NUA and ASEAN countries and provide strong artistic and educational support for the "Belt and Road" cultural exchanges.
