School of Dance Wins Awards in 7th Jiangsu Provincial Literature and Arts Awards Competition |
The final of the 7th Jiangsu Provincial Literature and Arts Awards Competition - Dance Awards came to a successful conclusion from January 4 to 8 at the Experimental Theatre of Wuxi Culture & Art School. The Competition is hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Publicity Department of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Dancers Association and the Wuxi Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and co-organized by the Wuxi Municipal Dancers Association. The Competition saw nine works by NUA shortlisted as finalists and win seven awards in total this year. Fang Tianxiang and Dai Wenguo are winners of Jiangsu Outstanding New Dance Stars for My Gaze Upon the Southern Mountain Rests and Shen Shou - Remembering Farewell respectively; Shi Mingsheng's performance Li Kui Becomes an Official brought him Jiangsu New Dance Star; Yellow Earth, Endless Song won the Outstanding Performance Award, The AwakeningAge the Outstanding Creation Award; and Vast Greenery and Shen Shou - Remembering Farewell the Creation Award. The Competition attracted 68 teams of nearly 400 dancers all over Jiangsu Province to compete in the final. During the epidemic prevention and control period, the NUA leading officials gave special permission to 12 faculty members and 80 students led by an official of the School of Dance to participate. The team of 93 people all made a safe and secure return to our campus. , as they followed the requirements of NUA's epidemic prevention team and well protected themselves during their rehearsals at NUA and the final, when carrying out careful rehearsal to improve the quality of the entries. The excellent results of the competition have confirmed the School of Dance’s teaching idea, namely high standards, strict requirements, versatile and all-round development, apart from our students’ youthful demeanor and faculty’s rigorous academic attitude. The Competition final offers a test of professional teaching, artistic creation and practice of the School of Dance, as well as an opportunity of reflecting on how to effectively improve teaching quality and talent cultivation modes. In recent years, NUA has attached great importance to major and red (revolutionary) themes and adhered to the correct path in artistic creation. The university has been committed to integrating ideological and political education and core socialist values into daily artistic practices of students and faculty members. NUA has taken advantage of various competitions at home to improves arts creation and learning. In particular, students and faculty members have been led in practice to cultivate innovation spirits, hone professional skills, shoulder the responsibility of the times and strive to be a newcomer of the era. The School of Dance have received numerous outstanding awards in major exhibitions and competitions in China in addition to public acclaim so far. Integrating the philosophy of "being knowledgeable, discreet, perseverant and perfect" and the spirit of "seeking changes" into the whole process of talent cultivation, the School has continuously created high-quality choreographic works in line with the theme of our times, given full play to the important role of arts and culture in spirit promotion, and realized the effective connection between artistic creation and moral education, making an excellent contribution to the development of NUA and presenting people from all walks of life the style of Jiangsu dance art in the new era.
