NUA Holds the Kick-off Meeting for Major Programs of Peak Plan for High-level Universities

NUA finalized the project guideline for the Peak Plan for High-level Universities (2022-2024) after continuous discussion, modification and improvement in recent days. On the morning of March 10, leaders of NUA held a meeting in the Conference Room on the third floor of the Administration Building to ensure early implementation of major programs. Yu Feng, Zhang Linghao, Li Xiangmin, Zhan Heping and Zhang Jie, members of the leading group and office members of the Peak Plan for High-level Universities, and major program leaders attended the meeting chaired by Zhang Jie.

Yu Feng pointed out that NUA, selected into the Peak Plan for Jiangsu High-level University Development, faced great development opportunities and challenges. All units and departments must deepen their understanding of the importance of implementing the Peak Plan. They should also have ambitions, set goals, enhance confidence and have high morale to focus on major tasks, integrate NUA’s resources, mobilize all parties, and strengthen cooperative awareness and skills. All units and departments should attach great importance to “six types of coordination”: coordinating the Peak Plan with existing platforms, coordinating its implementation with governance systems, coordinating the leading group with participating units and schools, coordinating the Peak Plan with high-quality assessments, coordinating its results with process management, coordinating its progress with the development of the times in innovation, so as to implement major tasks of the Peak Plan with high quality.

Zhang Linghao noted that the year 2022 marked the all-round developmentof NUA towards a high-level university and the delivery of successful outcomes. The guideline compilation has clear objectives and paths, offering important guidance on building NUA into a high-level university. He stressed that the university at a new starting point, with newer concepts, higher requirements, stronger management and more accurate assessment, should strive for greater breakthroughs in cultivating high-quality innovative talent, building a team of high-quality faculty members, conducting high-level scientific research, providing high-level social services, building a high-quality culture of excellence, promoting high-quality international cooperation and exchanges, and building a modernized governance system.

Zhang Jie pointed out that since the kick-off meeting, the leaders of NUA had already held several symposiums and discussions to fully discuss the guideline preparation. The finalized project guideline has three highlights: ambitious targets featuring competitive advantages from peer universities, disciplines and majors in China; three integrations between project arrangement and quality assessment at the provincial level, department leadership and school cooperation, and "making achievements" and "building ecosystem"; four benchmark evaluations against important project platforms and awards, key assessment indicators of high-quality development at the provincial level, NUA’s strategic vision of "12542", and top sister universities.

The meeting also witnessed representatives from the Personnel Office, the Academic Office, the Research Office, the Postgraduate Student Office, and the International Exchange Office make their speeches. They expressed that under the leadership of the Party committee and administration of NUA, they would break down big tasks and develop plans in strict accordance with the established schedules, complete all tasks and initiatives, so as to make every effort to promote the high-quality development of NUA and build NUA into a high-level university.
