Students and Faculty Members of School of Pop Music Record CCTV’s Chinese New Year Program

Deputy Dean of the School of Pop Music Zhang Dandan and some faculty members of Performance Department, including Huang Cen, Bai Tian, Xue Xiaolun, Li Shihai, Min Yi, Xiao Jun, Xi Yue and Chen Zhe, were invited to record the program by the CCTV music channel of China Media Group on January 4, 2022.

 

The program Symphony of the Chinese New Year, by the CCTV music channel of China Media Group for celebrating the Chinese New Year, is divided into five segments, East, West, North, South and Central, and to be broadcast during the spring festival in 2022. The directorial team worked with the China National Symphony Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of China National Opera House, Symphony Orchestra of China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater, Symphony Orchestra of National Ballet of China, and Mo Hualun, Lyu Siqing, Lyu Wei and other famous music performing artists from home and abroad to bring a thoughtful, artistic and high-quality Chinese New Year festive show to the nationwide audience.

The effective communication and active preparation with the directorial team in the early stage has ensured smooth cooperation among the faculty jazz band of the School of Pop Music, outstanding graduate singer Zhao Anni, well-known singer and music producer Jian Hongyi, and Beijing Dance Drama & Opera soloist Zhou Xuan to present three classic Chinese jazz songs, Rose Rose, I Love You, Heart Love and Evening Bell at Nanping Hill. The songs sounded refreshing after being recomposed by the faculty team of the School of Pop Music. Zhang Dandan, outstanding graduate singer-songwriter Geng Sihan, young soprano Ma Fei, and the China National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of famous conductor Li Xincao performed the song Starlight of the Land, delivering warm and delicate patriotism with grand momentum.

 

The directorial group highly affirmed the specialty and professionalism of the students and faculty members of the School of Pop Music of NUA. Zhang Dandan expressed to the program her gratitude and hope that the two sides will establish long-term cooperation and  CCTV would provide more high-level artistic practice opportunities for students and faculty members of the School of Pop Music.
