The 2022 Shanghai Ranking’ Best Chinese Subjects Ranking was published. This ranking list included 96 first-level disciplines, covering all the universities which have the academic Master’s degrees for the first-level disciplines. Universities which ranked the top 50% were listed in this ranking. Overall, 5035 disciplines from 484 universities were listed.

All five first-level disciplines of Nanjing University of the Arts (NUA), including Fine Arts, Design, Art Theory, Music and Dance Studies, and Theatre Film and TV Studies, have been selected into the 2022 Best Chinese Subjects Rankings. What’s more, Fine Arts has been selected as one of Top Chinese Subjects.

The ranking list was based on five indicators: talent training, scientific research projects, awards, academic papers, and academic talents. These five indicators included 17 sub-indicators and a total of more than 50 observational variables reflecting the competitiveness of disciplines. All the ranking data were from a third-party data resources, such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and domestic and international databases.
