Consul-General Prinat Apirat and Her Delegation from Royal Thai Consulate in Shanghai Visited Nanjing University of the Arts


On December 20th, Consul-General Prinat Apirat, Consuls Narong Silpathamtada and Napatsorn Iamsuranan, Political and Economic Analyst Zhang Caoyi, Commercial Consul Sakarn Saensopa, Vice Commercial Consul Ni Peipei, visited Nanjing University of the Arts. Yu Feng, the Party Secretary of Nanjing University of the Arts, and Vice President Zhang Jie met with the visiting guests. Representatives from the Department of International Exchanges and Cooperation, Department of Art Creation & Practice, School of Music, and School of International Education also participated in the meeting.

 


Yu Feng extended a warm welcome to Consul-General Prinat Apirat and her delegation. He introduced the history, academic disciplines, and the distinctive talents cultivation system of Nanjing University of the Arts. He then reviewed the history and achievements of exchanges and cooperation between NUA and institutions such as the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music and Silpakorn University in Thailand. He proposed to jointly establish the Oriental Music Institute with Thai universities, aiming to promote research on oriental music among scholars from China, Thailand, ASEAN countries, and countries and regions along the Belt and Road through research institutions and academic platforms. He hopes that in the future, more efforts can be made to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with Thai universities in talent cultivation, discipline development, artistic creation, and academic research so as to deepen mutual understanding and friendship, promote people-to-people connectivity, and foster cultural exchange. At the same time, Nanjing University of the Arts also hopes to strengthen the exchange with the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand in 2025, and jointly organize a concert to celebrate this milestone.

Consul-General Prinat Apirat expressed her gratitude for the warm reception at NUA. She mentioned that although China and Thailand have different languages, music, art, culture serve as bridges for bilateral communication and connectivity. She highly recognized the professional cooperation and cultural exchange achievements between Nanjing University of the Arts and Thai universities. After gaining a detailed understanding of the specific cooperation between Nanjing University of the Arts and Thai universities, she expressed support and willingness to facilitate in-depth exchanges and extensive collaboration between both sides. She also hopes that Nanjing University of the Arts can provide more opportunities for Thai students who are interested in furthering their education at NUA. She pointed out that talent exchange between universities will play an important role in promoting cultural development between the two countries. Additionally, she looks forward to achieving more fruitful results in the cooperation and exchange between Nanjing University of the Arts and Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music.

After the meeting, Zhang Jie and the heads of relevant departments accompanied Consul-General Prinat Apirat and her delegation on a tour of our campus. They enjoyed performances by students from the School of Music, including an erhu and piano trio Dazzlement, a guzheng solo Shadows of the Liangzhou Desert in the West, a bamboo flute solo Hanging Red Lanterns, a pipa ensemble Liu Sanjie, and a folk wind and percussion ensemble Land Boat Race. Consul-General Prinat Apirat and her delegation highly praised the performances by our university's faculty and students. They also had friendly exchanges with Thai students studying at NUA, inquiring about their studies and life at Nanjing University of the Arts. The Thai students expressed their love for the learning and living environment at NUA. Afterwards, Consul-General Prinat Apirat and her delegation took a group photo with the faculty and students of Nanjing University of the Arts.


China and Thailand are neighboring countries, and the friendship between the two is embedded in the hearts of the people. Nanjing University of the Arts will continue to actively promote cooperation and exchanges in education and culture between China and Thailand and contribute to the building of a more stable, prosperous, and sustainable China-Thailand community with shared future.
