The original dance theater production The Big Table of Happiness – the graduation performance of the Choreography Major of the Class of 2024 from the School of Dance was held on December 7th, 2023, at 19:00, and December 8th, 2023, at 14:00 and 19:00 at the Red Chair Theater of the Performing Arts Building.
About The Big Table of Happiness This year's graduation performance is different from previous ones. It gathers and reorganizes the life experiences and individual memories of all the students and teachers in our class. For me personally, the rapid changes in roles and identities over these years have brought about many new life experiences. The family memories of the students, as well as the stories from all corners of the world, are vast and subtle. They span regions and eras, while also delving deep into each delicate heart. The creative process has evoked a lot of warmth that we haven't talked about before... The table represents the heart of every home, hosting the warmth of morning porridge and the intimacy of nighttime gatherings with drinks. From richly flavored dishes to simple beancurd with greens, it holds the spectrum of flavors that accompany reunions and farewells, the ups and downs of life. The table carries the most diverse tastes in this world and preserves a multitude of stories. We chose the name The Big Table of Happiness to express that life has more than one flavor, and happiness has more than one definition. It can be a snowfall during childhood, a hard-earned reward; it can also be the melting snow, a long-awaited achievement. As we keep moving forward, perhaps we will eventually discover that happiness is a firsthand experience that comes from our wholehearted engagement in life. Our families have walked through the waves of time, and we have struggled in our own little worlds. Each and every one of us is a small yet magnificent miracle.
