On October 24, the themed art exhibition "Splendid Cultural City: Interweaving with the World" was successfully held at the Louvre in Paris, France, celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. Co-organized by Nanjing University of the Arts, this exhibition was an important part of the "2024 China Nanjing Week" China-French cultural exchange series. It showcased the evolution of Nanjing's textile craftsmanship, divided into three sections: "Exquisite Attire & Common Clothes," "Weaving Machines & Mechanical Weaving" and "Renewed Textiles." These sections highlighted modern innovations in Chinese design philosophy and craftsmanship within the framework of Chinese lifestyle aesthetics. The exhibition was curated by Zhang Ming, Dean of the School of Industrial Design at NUA, who also led the team. Featured works included the "Ge Wu Ding Xin" (meaning understanding the essence of things and then innovating) series of lighting designs, which combined traditional culture with modern technology and received widespread acclaim from French audiences. Additionally, "Evergreen," a project by young faculty member Li Anqi that explored jade and silk weaving techniques, also garnered significant attention. The event attracted nearly 100 representatives, including officials from various French regional governments, the Chinese Embassy in France, and UNESCO. France's First Lady, Brigitte Macron, attended the exhibition and gave it high praise. During the exhibition, a "Dialogue of Artisans: Masters’ Salon" was held, where Chinese and French designers and intangible cultural heritage experts discussed cultural heritage preservation and innovative collaborations. This event underscored the fusion of traditional Chinese culture with modern design, further deepening cultural exchanges between China and France.
