On December 6, 2024, the 12th China Design Forum of Youth Scholars, themed “Material History in the Field”, was successfully held at NUA. This forum was a key academic event commemorating NUA’s 112th anniversary, gathering over 200 researchers, young scholars, and students from 26 universities across China. In his opening remarks, President Zhang Linghao reflected on the founding history of the Design Forum of Youth Scholars and hi.ghlighted its significant role in advancing the discipline of design. The forum featured keynote presentations from several invited experts, who shared their research findings related to the theme of “material history” from micro to macro perspectives, small traditions to large traditions, and from experiences to methodologies. Additionally, a graduate student sub-forum was established, with in-depth discussions carried out among doctoral and master’s students on relevant topics. The successful hosting of this forum further advanced academic exchange and development within the design discipline, providing an important communication platform for young scholars
