On November 2, 2024, the exhibition “Exploration and Reflection: Forty Years of Contemporary Chinese Ink Painting (1985-2024)” was inaugurated at the NUA Art Museum. This event is co-hosted by NUA and the organizing committee of the Contemporary Chinese Ink Painting Yearbook. The exhibition showcases works from 51 artists, offering a comprehensive overview of the evolution of contemporary Chinese ink art since the “85 New Wave Art Movement” in1985. The exhibition aims to investigate the transformation of ink art from traditional practices to contemporary interpretations, highlighting artists’ multidimensional expansions of ink language within the context of globalization. The curatorial team seeks to elucidate the historical trajectory of contemporary Chinese ink painting while promoting its dissemination and exchange in the international art arena. This exhibition has received widespread attention and acclaim, being recognized as a microcosm of the development of contemporary Chinese ink art over the past four decades.
