In December 2024, NUA successfully hosted the 7th “Cool Words” International Word Art & Design Exhibition and the academic forum titled “Multi-dimensional Difference of Word Art & Design”. This event was organized by NUA with the support of the School of Design, the National Language and Character Promotion Base (Nanjing University of the Arts), and the Purple Academy of Culture & Creativity. The exhibition showcased the latest explorations and achievements in font design, featuring contributions from top-notched designers and artists from Switzerland, France, Iran, Japan, Denmark, Germany, Poland, and Hong Kong, China. The academic forum brought together 27 domestic and international experts and scholars who engaged in discussions about the connotations and denotations of word art & design within cross-cultural contexts. These discussions were held from open, diverse, and critical perspectives, aiming to stimulate interest in word art & design among both academia and industry, while promoting dialogue and understanding between different cultures. In his speech, Professor Yu Feng, Secretary of the Party Committee of NUA, underscored the importance of the inheritance and innovative development of written language as a vital aspect of the modernization of traditional Chinese culture. He emphasized NUA’s long-standing commitment to supporting and advocating for innovation and practical research in word art & design. The successful execution of this event reflects NUA’s dedication to advancing an innovative educational framework for word art & design and contributing to the ongoing development and innovation in this field.
