Global Harmony in Art: 2025 NUA 520 Graduation Carnival Bridges Cultures Through Artistic Creativity |
Recently, NUA played host to a dazzling celebration of international artistic exchange. Faculty and student representatives from renowned institutions—including the University of Adelaide (Australia), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), Silpakorn University and Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (Thailand), the University of British Columbia (Canada), and Athens School of Fine Arts—gathered for the 2025 NUA 520 Graduation Carnival. On May 19, as part of the celebration of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Canada and a prelude to the 10th NUA 520 Graduation Carnival, the Splendid Jiangsu: Thunderstorm Cast’s Jiangsu Tour – Nanjing Stop was held at the Experimental Theatre of Nanjing University of the Arts. The event was co-hosted by the Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange, the UBC School of Music (Canada), and Nanjing University of the Arts. From May 19 to 21, Dayn Ng Chee Yao, Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts, and Michael Lee Hong Hwee, Director of Strategic Development and Global Affairs from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, attended the opening ceremony of the “2025 NUA 520 Graduation Carnival” and held academic exchanges with NUA’s School of Design and School of Digital Arts. From May 19 to 21, a delegation from Silpakorn University of Thailand was invited to participate in the Carnival and delivered a brilliant performance during the NUA Bubble Music Festival – Jazz Season. On May 20, Professor David Blaiklock from the University of Adelaide (Australia) gave a lecture titled The Emotional Dimensions of Artistic Creation at the School of Design. That evening, Nanjing University of the Arts and the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (Thailand) co-hosted a special concert titled Flowing Water and Lofty Mountains at the Pop Theatre. From May 20 to 21, Professor Yiannis Melanitis, Vice President of the Athens School of Fine Arts, led a delegation to participate in the Carnival and co-organized a thematic workshop titled Millennium Canals: From the Grand Canal of China to the Corinth Canal with NUA’s College of Vocational and Technical Education. The “520 Graduation Carnival” was more than a celebration of art — it served as a vital bridge for academic dialogue across regions and cultures. Through in-depth exchanges and collaboration with international institutions, Nanjing University of the Arts opened a gateway for both faculty and students to explore the global stage of the arts, broadening their artistic horizons and sparking innovative thinking. Looking ahead, NUA remains committed to openness and inclusivity, advancing global artistic dialogue and contributing to the innovative development of arts education. As cultures meet and merge, the flowers of art from China and around the world will bloom even more vibrantly. |
