| Poems Connect the World Global Chinese Poetry Event Concludes Successfully |
On June 5, the closing elegant gathering of Poems Connect the World Global Chinese Poetry Event was held at the Suiyuan Campus of Nanjing Normal University. Leaders and distinguished guests from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing University of the Arts and other institutions attended the activity. Zhang Jie, Vice President of Nanjing University of the Arts, awarded the "Emerging Poetry Talent Prize" to winners of the video solicitation campaign and delivered an address.
In the early phase of the event, an art team from Nanjing University of the Arts staged overseas touring performances in three Central Asian destinations including Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Integrating classical poetry, vocal music, dance, visual design and diverse art forms, the team delivered cultural performances in seven cities of six countries, spreading the culture of traditional Chinese poetry to overseas audiences.
An immersive garden poetry party was arranged for the closing ceremony, drawing enthusiastic participation from international students of various universities. Holding hand-painted lanterns, they joined interactive activities including poetry word games, poetry matching and collective recitation of classics. They chanted timeless poems such as Spring Dawn and Jiangnan, fully appreciating the unique charm of Chinese classical poetry. A documentary screening reviewed the whole cross-border cultural journey at the gala. The original show Poems Connect the World: Silk Road Bond of Mountains and Seas created by Nanjing University of the Arts was presented on stage. It reproduced highlights of overseas tours and vividly illustrated the profound value of cultural exchange and mutual learning between civilizations.
The event builds a platform for China-foreign communication with poetry as the medium. Nanjing University of the Arts stated that it will keep taking art and poetry as carriers to promote outstanding traditional Chinese culture globally, and further advance worldwide cultural exchanges and friendly ties between China and other countries.
